Community engagement worker x4
We have got a rare opportunity to join our engagement team as we look to recruit four community engagement workers. These are part-time posts, two in Cornwall, one in east Devon and one which will focus on communities that aren't identified by geography.
The focus of the role is to support the engagement work of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner in particular to:
• Provide support for events and meetings arranged and attended by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner;
• To attend events and meetings arranged and attended by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner;
• To inform the public of the work of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner;
• To engage with the public and provide an opportunity for them to express views and seek information on policing issues and community safety issues;
• To identify suitable opportunities in your designated area for the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner to engage with members of the public in the most efficient and effective way.

The role is home based.
The successful applicants can be contracted to either 70, 125 or 250 hours per year.

Who are we looking for?
We want to find confident people who are positive about their communities and who can pass on that positivity to others.
You will build a full understanding of the priorities set out by the PCC in the Police and Crime Plan and the effect those priorities will have in many different and varied communities, including the hard to reach.
Knowledge of how the police and the OPCC work is advantageous but a real commitment to connecting communities is far more important.
The OPCC is committed to the use of social media (predominantly Facebook and Twitter) as an engagement tool and it would be beneficial if applicants are used to this as a medium.
We would expect a level of proactivity in identifying venues to hold OPCC events and, where appropriate, delivering talks to interested groups about OPCC work.
You will be expected to travel independently to venues and expenses will be paid accordingly.
You will be expected to assist in the erection and carrying of events equipment.
