Dr Karen Mellodew
Performance management and customer service
I completed my doctorate in neuroscience, specialising in brain development and repair at Kings College London. Subsequently I worked for Devon and Cornwall Police as a crime and intelligence analyst for nine years. I have three very lively children aged nine, seven and five. I have a passion for wild places that I share with my children.
My team advise the PCC about all aspects of police performance and develop and monitor appropriate performance management frameworks to support the Police and Crime Plan, commissioning activity and projects. We are also responsible for ensuring an appropriate response to customer service issues including monitoring the police complaints process. In addition we have just taken on responsibility for managing the independent custody visitors scheme in Devon and Cornwall. Scrutiny and holding the police to account for service delivery forms a common theme through all of our work.
Karen is also the community link officer for Torbay.
