Joint management board
The joint management board (JMB) is a vital decision making forum for both the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and the police force.
The purpose of the joint management board (JMB) is:
- To act as a co-ordinating and decision making forum for the police and crime commissioner (PCC) and the chief constable as two separate corporations sole. It is a forum to consult on significant strategic issues that jointly affect the shape of policing within the Force area and to discuss issues which determine the strategic direction of the Force and the OPCC;
- JMB is responsible for the strategic oversight of the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan and will receive regular reports from the strategic delivery boards which will be responsible for the delivery of main priorities in the Police and Crime Plan;
- JMB will also provide an advisory forum in which the PCC, deputy PCC and chief constable can take advice from statutory officers and other professional advisors from the chief officer group (COG). It does not replace the need for the PCC and chief constable to hold separate strategic meetings, for example, COG meetings, in order to effectively discharge their statutory duties.
