Tony Hogg welcomes increase in Commissioner powers

PCC's given more responsibility to investigate complaints against police

Devon and Cornwall's Police and Crime Commissioner is welcoming the elements in the Queen's Speech to increase the powers of PCC's to deal with complaints against the police.

"The public rightly expect that the PCC should have a role when they complain about their local police service, but currently the Commissioner is excluded from that process." said Tony Hogg

"People do not understand why the police are responsible for managing their own complaints in the first instance,  and why the PCC has had no powers in this area."

"We await to see the details of the proposals, but this is definitely a move in the right direction."
