Privacy impact assessments
A privacy impact assessment (PIA) enables an organisation to analyse how a particular project or system will affect the privacy of the individuals involved.
The purpose of the PIA is to ensure that privacy risks are minimised while allowing the aims of a project to be met whenever possible.
Conducting a PIA is not required by law, however carrying out one effectively should benefit people affected by a project, and the organisation carrying out the project by helping organisations to comply with Data Protection legislation.
